Beyoncé breaks previous Grammy record

Beyoncé cleans up again at the Grammy Awards. With 32 awards, she is officially the highest-grossing Grammy artist of all time.
Beyoncé (41) breaks the Grammy record. After accepting the award for best dance/electronic music album for “Renaissance” in Los Angeles on Sunday, the US singer now holds the record for most Grammy awards with 32 awards. In an emotional speech, she thanked her family, her children and, above all, the queer community.
“Thank you very much,” she said at the beginning of her acceptance speech. “I’m trying not to get too emotional. I’m trying to just embrace this evening. I want to thank God for protecting me. Thank you God.” Music producer Jay-Z’s wife, 53, continued: “I want to thank my uncle Johnny who is not here. But he is here in spirit. I want to thank my parents – my father and mother for loving me and encouraged me. I want to thank my wonderful husband and three wonderful children who are at home watching.”
Beyoncé concluded her speech with a special thank you to the queer community that brought her dance/electronic music to her credit. “I want to thank the queer community for their love and for inventing this genre,” Beyoncé said. “God bless you. Thank you to the Grammys. Thank you.”
Beyoncé is “Greatest Of All Time” (GOAT)
After her victory, presenter Trevor Noah (38) named her “Greatest Of All Time” (GOAT). “Beyonce nailed it, folks,” he said after her emotional acceptance speech. “She now holds the record for most Grammy wins, so we can finally end the GOAT debate. It’s over now. Who’s the GOAT? It’s Beyoncé. That’s it. It’s not LeBron, it’s not Jordan, It’s not Tom Brady, it’s not Messi. It’s done. It’s officially done.”
The previous record holder Beyoncé surpassed at Sunday’s awards ceremony was Hungarian-British conductor Georg Solti (1912-1997), who had long held the record with 31 Grammy Award wins. Solti was known as conductor of orchestras across Europe before being music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 22 years.
In all, Beyoncé received four trophies that night: Best Dance Recording, Best Dance/Electronic Album, Best Performance – Traditional R&B, and Best R&B Song.
Viola Davis is now one of the “EGOT” stars
Actress Viola Davis was also included in a prestigious ranking on Sunday. She achieved EGOT status with her award for Best Audiobook, Narrative and Storytelling Recording for Finding Me. In 2017 she received an Oscar for best supporting actress in “Fences”, in 2015 an Emmy for best actress in the drama series “How to Get Away with Murder”, Davis received her first Tony Award in 2001 for best supporting actress in “Kind Hedley II”.

Other award winners included Harry Styles (Album of the Year, Best Pop Album), Kendrick Lamar (Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song), Ozzy Osbourne (Best Metal Performance, Best Rock Album) and Adele (Best Pop Solo Performance) and Michael Bublé (Best Vocal Album – Traditional Pop).
Wet Leg won Best Alternative Album, Robert Glasper won Best R&B Album, Willie Nelson won Best Country Album and Dave Chappelle won Best Comedy Album.
Single of the Year is Lizzo’s “About Damn Time”, Song of the Year is “Just Like That” by Bonnie Raitt and Best New Artist is Samara Joy. And a German artist was also happy. Cologne-born Kim Petras and British singer Sam Smith have been honored as best pop duo for their club hit “Unholy”.
