Gräfelfinger concerts start in September – district of Munich

Not only fans of classical music would unreservedly underline Nietzsche’s bon mot “Without music, life would be a mistake”. Of course, one could add – even if it sounds like a slightly cheesy calendar saying: “Without love, life would be a mistake.” A love song or a romantic piece of music would therefore be double protection against metaphysical errors. Fritz Kreisler’s famous miniatures “Love Joy” and “Love Sorrow”, which are based on old Viennese dance tunes, cover two poles of amorous experience: triumphant jubilation and sweet-painful melancholy.

The Duo Dauenhauer will play works by Kreisler at their concert on October 14th in the Gräfelfingen town hall, which has the motto “love joy and love sorrow”. The violinist Anna Sophie Dauenhauer and the pianist Lukas Kuen also have compositions by Benjamin Britten, Edgar Elgar and Johann Strauss in their program. The duo, who performed in Würmtal in 2018, will be making guest appearances there again in the “Gräfelfinger Konzerte” series.

The German-Armenian pianist Hamlet Ambarzumjan will kick off the series organized by the Gräfelfing music association on September 16th. He was also a guest in Gräfelfing, at the traditional special concert “Young Prize Winners”. Ambarzumjan will perform works by Beethoven, Bach/Busoni, Scarlatti, Chopin, Bach/Brahms, Scriabin and Rachmaninoff.

There will be a total of six events in the “Gräfelfinger Konzerte” series in the 2022/23 season, plus two special concerts: one will be played by the prizewinners of “Jugend musiziert” (December 18), the other by the Puchheim Youth Chamber Orchestra (April 28), celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2023.

“The coming season will again offer a varied program that will delight our concert-goers,” says Bianca Bodalia, pianist and first chairman of the association. “As usual, the selected artists guarantee our consistently high level.” Which, by the way, is also appreciated by music lovers in the region, who flocked to the community center even in times of a pandemic. “It was also remarkable that we were never able to welcome as many spectators as in the past season,” said Bodalia.

The association can therefore look forward to the new season with confidence, especially as it can indeed come up with other interesting, mostly young, top-class artists: On December 9th, a chamber music ensemble will perform with an unusual line-up: pianist Aris Alexander Blettenberg presents with bassoonist Theo Plath and clarinettist Nemorino Scheliga as “Piano Trio Neo” a program with works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Bruch and Schumann. The 27-year-old Blettenberg is a musical all-rounder: he won the Vienna International Beethoven Piano Competition in 2021, but he is also successful as a composer and conductor – among other things, he conducted the Garching Symphony Orchestra for several years.

Jonas Aumiller, who will be performing in Gräfelfing on January 13, is also considered to have great keyboard talent. The pianist, who was born in Munich and grew up in the region, won the Brahms Competition Detmold in 2021. In the meantime, however, he has been honing his pianistic skills mainly in the USA (including as a student at the Juilliard School in New York). He will play works by Bach/Busoni, Liszt/Aumiller and Brahms.

On February 17th, the Agathon Trio with the young artists Fidelis Edelmann (clarinet), Jannis Rieke (viola) and Kathrin Isabelle Klein (piano) will perform and on March 23rd the Schmuck Trio, which will finally be with the actor Gerald Friese wants to present the Stravinsky program (“The Story of the Soldier”), which has already been postponed twice.

From March onwards, the concerts will take place in the auditorium of the Kurt-Huber-Gymnasium due to the conversion and renovation of the community center. Advance tickets are available from the bookstore and stationery “Wort.Schatz”, Bahnhofstraße 95, in Gräfelfing, telephone 089/85 37 00, in the community center Gräfelfing, Bahnhofplatz 1, 089/85 82 72, or about www.muenchenticket.de.
