Gräfelfing – Tree felling for the tunnel renovation – District of Munich

Preparatory work for the renovation of the motorway tunnel will begin in Gräfelfing next week. According to Autobahn GmbH, some of the trees on the surface of the tunnel will be felled and individual hedges removed from Monday, February 21, according to the municipality. The reason is that there is too much soil that has to be removed in order to comply with static design limits.

The tunnel runs under the municipal streets “Maria-Eich-Straße”, “Rudolfstraße” and “Jahnstraße”. There is an urgent need for renovation, especially on the tunnel ceiling. In the course of this, additional noise protection measures are to be implemented. The council had already approved this. After completion of the work, there should be a corresponding balancing planting.

“We took the opportunity here to meaningfully supplement the measures that were planned anyway,” Mayor Peter Köstler (CSU) is quoted as saying in the community statement. It is a good cooperation with Autobahn GmbH and a win-win situation for both sides. The noise protection walls are to be erected both above the western tunnel portal along Maria-Eich-Strasse and on the northern and southern noise flanks. The interior of the western tunnel portal will also be lined with sound-absorbing elements. In addition, as part of the renovation of the tunnel technology, a permanent speed measurement system is to be installed in both directions in the tunnel.
