The geothermal project of the municipality of Gräfelfing is going into concrete implementation. Soil samples were taken during a first so-called exploratory drilling, which should provide information about the exact depth of the groundwater and other geophysical properties, according to a statement from the municipality. In order to ensure that large parts of the community are supplied with deep heat as quickly as possible, homeowners are now asked to contact the town hall if they want to be connected.
As early as the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024, the drilling site is to be set up on part of the paddock area of the riding club between Würmtalstraße and Neurieder Weg. Drilling itself is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024. If everything goes as planned, the laying of the district heating network and the construction of the heating center should start in 2024 parallel to the drilling. The municipality is already laying district heating pipes for road construction projects when it seems necessary and sensible. This is how it should happen, for example, with the roadway rehabilitation planned for this year on the eastern Bahnhofstrasse and in the street Am Kirchenholzl. Property owners on these streets are encouraged to contact the community and submit a letter of intent if they want to be connected to geothermal energy. All other owners can also be put on a reservation list. According to the municipality, the declarations of intent are important in order to be able to plan the profitability of the project. According to the town hall, the more owners express an interest in geothermal energy, the faster the expansion can take place.
In a first expansion stage, it is planned to route the main line in a ring from the drilling site along Würmtalstraße, Bahnhofstraße, Rottenbucher Straße, Lochhamer Straße, Würmstraße and Am Anger as well as Pasinger Straße back to the drilling site. In the first expansion stage, the commercial area is also to be connected and supplied from the drilling site. Further expansion stages will be communicated on the homepage of the Geothermie-Gesellschaft Gräfelfing (www.geothermie-graefelfing.de ). As early as 2022, the municipality gained Silenos Energie GmbH & Co. KG as a project partner and founded a joint project company “Geothermie Gräfelfing GmbH & Co. KG”, which implements the deep geothermal energy project in the municipality.
