Gräfelfing – Augustiner brewery arouses fears of more traffic – district of Munich

The municipality of Gräfelfing is against the expansion of a logistics center in Freiham Süd.

As immediate neighbors, the Gräfelfinger people are skeptical about the development of the new district of Freiham in the south-west of Munich, especially when it comes to the issue of traffic. The district is to offer apartments for around 25,000 new residents, and the resulting traffic will also affect the Würmtal communities, it is feared. The Augustiner brewery is now planning to expand its logistics center in the Freiham Süd commercial area. The municipality of Gräfelfing rejects this in a statement, as the Committee for the Environment, Energy and Mobility has just decided.

The Augustiner brewery is planning a three-storey bottling center, a logistics hall with an underground car park and the expansion of the existing logistics hall. The people of Munich should welcome the planning, because the expansion on the outskirts means less inner-city traffic for them. The Gräfelfinger, on the other hand, fear more traffic in their community area, especially avoidance and slow traffic. Martin Feldner (Greens) criticized another aspect of the planning. As a member of the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC), he has been fighting for a cycle path connection between Freiham and Lochham/Gräfelfing for years. This was repeatedly rejected on the grounds that an important biotope on the route in Freiham should remain untouched. Now the commercial area is being expanded there, he criticized. The administration wants to examine this aspect and include it in its statement.
