Graefelfing: Literary Society with a top-class autumn program – district of Munich

In autumn, the Literary Society brings writers, politicians and scientists to the community center for discussions. Her topics: democracy, national socialism, China – and art.

The Graefelfing Literary Society in the Bürgerhaus, Bahnhofsplatz 1, is putting on six evenings that challenge and entertain the spirit and mind until the end of the year. The invited guests offer readings, lectures and food for thought on the subject of National Socialism, democracy, art, China, politics and literature. Anatol Regnier will kick things off this Wednesday, October 12, at 8 p.m. The author and chanson singer talks about his latest book “Everybody writes for himself”, which is about writers in Nazi Germany. Regnier shows the tension and the contradictions between adaptation, artistic integrity and dictatorship.

Former Minister of Justice Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger and the author Gunna Wendt are thinking about democracy on Wednesday, October 26th. In their book “Our Endangered Democracy,” the women deal with the dangers of hatred, hate speech and defamation of politicians and journalists. According to the Literary newspaper, Gerd Holzheimer is a “muscle man”, a “primeval beast”: The writer has written a biography of the Norwegian painter and draftsman Olaf Gulbransson. Holzheimer has captured all facets of the ingenious and contradictory Norwegian, who lived at Tegernsee for a long time, and will introduce him to the audience on Wednesday, November 9th.

We continue on the Silk Road – Sinologist Professor Thomas O. Höllmann speaks about developments in China on Wednesday, November 23rd. “Marx, Wagner, Nietzsche” are three personalities that the political scientist Professor Herfried Münkler deals with in his current book. On Wednesday, November 30, he will be presenting three names to the public who had a significant influence on the upheavals in the world in the 19th and 20th centuries. The year ends in literary terms: on Wednesday, December 14, Annemarie Stoltenberg will present what the current book market has to offer.

Tickets for all events can be bought or reserved in the Kohler bookshop in Gräfelfing, remaining tickets are available at the box office for ten euros.
