Here, there is no cutting-edge slimming cream or essential oils that cleanse. When you enter this Toulouse pharmacy, you have the impression of being in a doctor’s waiting room, the displays having given way to armchairs and a sofa. And that’s what the co-founders of
MyOrdo. A new concept of dispensary that relies on digital technology, robotics and the relationship between the patient and his pharmacist. The first of its kind opened in the center of the Pink City a little over a month ago.
Thanks to an application, patients can download their prescriptions remotely, be alerted daily when they take their capsules or have remote advice.
Refocus on the patient-pharmacist relationship
But the novelty is also in the robotization of the pharmacy. Once the prescription has been validated, the usual drugs are prepared in individual dose sachets by a robot, ready to use. They can be delivered to the patient’s home or collected from the pharmacy in click & collect mode.
A plus for patients with chronic diseases or even dependent people who do not leave their home and can thus manage everything remotely thanks to the digital application.
“Today, the majority of pharmacies are carbon copies. Rather than being on the latest cosmetic cream, we decided to refocus on the expertise of the pharmacist for the patient. It is possible thanks to the use of the digital tool which removes certain time-consuming tasks from us, ”explains Sébastien Bonnet, one of the co-founders of the start-up MonOrdo, which today employs eight people in Toulouse.
No more mistakes or wasted medication
The patient also saves time. Say goodbye to hours spent filling the pillbox after standing in line at the pharmacy. There, the robot will have calibrated the treatment and packaged each medication intake in a sachet, labeled with the specific time and day, all stored in a drop-down box. “This avoids errors in taking medication. And this makes it possible to observe the treatment well, which is not always the case. The waste of unfinished boxes of drugs, now estimated at one billion euros per year, is also avoided, ”continues this trained pharmacist who joined forces with Léo Péchin, computer engineer, to launch this new concept.
A new way of managing the pharmacy, but also its stocks. Thanks to digitalization and the application associated with the pharmacy, they can anticipate prescription renewals and not be out of stock. The managers of the Toulouse start-up plan to open a second pharmacy in a large city next year. And to have about twenty on French territory within five years.
