Good resolution for the New Year: Forgiveness – Munich

Forgiving is not just about the other person, it is also important for your own well-being, says Barbara Schellhammer, professor at the University of Philosophy. A conversation about injuries, perpetratorship and victimhood, whispers and God.

Barbara Schellhammer, 46, has been Professor of Intercultural Social Transformation at the University of Philosophy since 2019, where she heads the Center for Global Issues. Her research includes, among other things, the phenomenology of the stranger, cultural repression and expulsion and is concerned with peace education. Schellhammer lived in Canada for many years, but also in Togo and Kenya. The current crises in the world are weighing on them. But the fact that there is currently a lot of thinking about forgiveness makes her “hopeful,” she says.
