Tiger Woods is repeatedly stopped by his body. Nevertheless, the golf superstar dreams of another coup at a special place.

Golf superstar Despite his long suffering before the first major tournament of the year, Tiger Woods is ambitious and dreams of his sixth Masters title. “If everything comes together, I hope I can get another one,” said the 48-year-old at the press conference at Augusta National Golf Club.

Woods has already won the traditional tournament at Magnolia Lane five times – including his first (1997) and his last (2019) of a total of 15 major titles. “The tournament means a lot in my life – also for my whole family,” explained the Californian.

However, after his numerous injuries this year, Woods is far from being among the favorites as of Thursday. In mid-February he had to give up his comeback on the PGA Tour early due to illness. His last official PGA tournament before that was the Masters 2023, where Woods also did not finish due to injury.

Serious car accident in February 2021

An operation on his right foot followed. The long-standing world number one broke his right leg several times in a serious car accident in February 2021. Since then, Woods has only competed in a few select tournaments.

“It hurts every day. Some days I feel really good, some days I don’t,” Woods said of his health. Last year, “my body wasn’t ready.” Now the 82-time PGA tournament winner is more optimistic. “I love golf. The ankle is fine.” Since his first win in 1997, Woods has never missed the cut at the Masters in Georgia. If he manages to reach the two rounds on the weekend for the 24th time in a row this year, he would alone hold the record.
