Benjamin Salomon Carson was born on September 18, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan. Her father, Robert Salomon Carson, is an Adventist pastor. Her mother, Sonya Copeland, is illiterate because she left school at 13 to get married. When he was 8 years old, Benjamin’s parents divorced, his mother accused her husband of leading a double life with another woman and having other children.
