Golden instead of red roses: RTL is bringing the over-60s dating show “Golden Bachelor” to Germany. Casting is currently underway.

The dating show for the older generation is already a success in the USA, and now it is also coming to Germany. The transmitter RTL has now announced that it will expand the Bachelor universe and launch the “Golden Bachelor”.

It is not yet known when it will start, the Cologne station is calling now for casting for everyone over 60 years old. “It’s never too late to fall in love,” the ad says. “A dream man in his prime and 20 women embark on the journey of their lives.”

“Golden Bachelor” based on the US model

In the USA, the show “The Golden Bachelor” premiered on ABC in September 2023. The 72-year-old Gerry Turner was looking for true love here and ultimately found it in the 70-year-old Theresa Nist. The two married in January 2024. In autumn 2024, the station wants to broadcast the female counterpart, “The Golden Bachelorette”.

German “Bachelor” universe is growing

The first season of “The Bachelor” premiered in Germany in 2003, and after a nine-year break it continued in 2012. Since then, every year a bachelor has been looking for his dream woman. The 14th season started in 2024 – with a twist: This time in “The Bachelors” two single men were looking for love. “The Bachelorette” is in its eleventh season this year. In addition, from May 2018, the spin-off “Bachelor in Paradise” was broadcast several times with former candidates from the shows.
