Indeed, after the defection of Victor Wembanyama, the new rock star of the San Antonio Spurs who decided not to play the World Cup with the France team this summer, the tricolor coach must have been happy to learn that it will not be the same for Rudy Gobert.
The Minnesota Timberwolves pivot posted a message on Instagram in which he clearly indicates, with the World Cup trophy accompanied by a tricolor, that he will indeed be there.
Gobert was however far from being ready
A decision that did not seem so obvious two months ago, after the elimination of Wolves in the first round of the play-offs against Denver (1-4), at the end of a mixed first season for the French in the Minnesota franchise.
During a press conference, Gobert then indicated that he wanted to take advantage of the summer break to work well and “come back next season to do the best of his career”. It would therefore seem that the former Jazz star has finally changed his mind, he who should, in the absence of “Wemby”, be the strong man of the Blues in the racket.
