Because of curvy and small models: Heidi Klum received rejections from well-known designers

Heidi Klum wants to pay more attention to diversity in the new season of her show “Germany’s Next Top Model”. However, the new concept is not well received everywhere. Numerous well-known designers have jumped off.
Due to the increased diversity of her models, Heidi Klum received rejections from numerous designers for the next season of “Germany’s next top model”. “The industry demands more diversity, so I expanded our cast this year and opened the door even wider,” said the 48-year-old from the magazine “Bunte”.
There are small, very large, curvy, slim, young and older candidates – the age range is between 18 and 68 years. A mother-daughter duo is also represented. The smallest candidate measures 1.54 meters, the largest 1.93 meters.

Apparently not everyone in the model industry likes this trend. “Unfortunately, a lot of well-known designers who had previously agreed to have dropped out,” said Klum. “The reason: the dimensions of our models. You can always hear how important diversity is, but when it comes down to it, somehow not really, as we have experienced firsthand.”
You wonder why big fashion labels don’t go along with them. “Right now there is the desire for change, for change – so I would generally like to say to the fashion designers out there: It’s your job to dress people – the size of your clothing shouldn’t play a role,” said Klum.

The 48-year-old also spoke to the news agency SpotOn News about the new candidates. “I’m ready for change and I hope the fashion world is too. Everyone always has a huge mouth. We’re a reality show, the jobs we give are real. With so many different customers, we’ll see how big the demand for various models really is in the end, “says Klum.
The shooting for the 17th GNTM season is currently taking place in Athens and on the island of Mykonos. Another stop is planned for Klum’s adopted home Los Angeles. The broadcast of the new episodes is planned for the beginning of 2022.
