“GNTM”: Close decisions in teddy panties

The contest is raging in Tenerife. In the end, it was especially the boys who were smiling. For some applicants, the “GNTM” exit came as more than a surprise.

In episode 5 of this year’s edition of “Germany’s Next Top Model, it wasn’t just the models’ fashion show outfits that were extremely tight. When it came to the jury’s decisions, there was often only a slight gap between the female candidates’ advancement and elimination. On the other hand, Heidi Klum’s (50) boys impressed again in the final show across the board. No wonder: with the Spanish supermodel Jon Kortajarena (38), the men had one of the world’s best teachers at their side.

Collection of impressive personalities

Round by round, the models come closer to their dream of entering the modeling business. And while some seemed to rely on their previous experience, others worked hard to make small improvements. Marvin (22), son of a veritable king of a city in Ghana, has tasted blood. “Prince” Marvin has already made quite an impression on Heidi – and he wants to continue to improve.

The same was true for Felice. The 20-year-old civil engineering student from Berlin had little modeling and catwalk experience, but wanted to show everyone and practice, practice, practice. With what result? The fashion show at the end should show it. In a personal conversation, Sara (28) verbally took off her hat to Grace’s “mindset”: “You radiate such maturity.” No wonder: Grace fled with her family across the Mediterranean from Syria to Germany at the age of 14 and had to grow up early. Will she also come a step further with “GNTM”?

Slippery running training with superstar Jon

Heidi’s announcement of a coached running training session was not met with complete enthusiasm. Some models were more likely to enjoy the beautiful view and pool than practice on the breezy runway. It turned into a slippery ramp in the Balearic rain. However, there was joy when the models saw Heidi and designer Marina Hoermanseder (37) as well as one of the male supermodels of our time: Jon Kortajarena is the face of many luxury brand campaigns. His support came at the right time for candidates like Yusupha or long-time doubter Lucas (24). Next to Jon he still felt “like a bouncer, like a penguin”. Heidi couldn’t stay in her chair when she saw 20-year-old Fabienne “egging” down the runway in an X-legged position. She showed her how to move confidently across the boards that mean the world to models.

Teddy bears put you in a good mood during the fitting

At the fitting for designer Marina Hoermanseder’s fashion show, unusual outfits between disco balls, loincloths and mini teddy pants dominated the picture. The daring pieces needed to be professionally designed and presented. The twins Luca and Julian (24) made one faux pas with the fashion designers by having too much fun with the fashion pieces. Unprofessional. Lilli (22) was chosen as the show opener, and semi-professional Aldin (22) was supposed to close the show. Lucas (24) was once again the first general insecurity personified. His motto: “If one thing is certain: that nothing is certain.” Frieder (24) swore to the designer that he would maneuver his loincloth with dignity down the catwalk.

Tragedy and boys’ smiles after the show

In the fashion show, “Prince” Marvin and final runner Aldin in particular gave the jury goosebumps. Even Xenia (23), who doubted herself as always, was convincing – as always. Fabienne’s walk seemed like a substitute. Lucas also suddenly radiated boundless self-confidence. The jury’s decision was tragic for Marcia (23): the Swiss woman had quit her job as a doctor’s secretary to take part in “GNTM” and to pursue her dream. Now her path at “GNTM” has ended abruptly and much earlier than expected. This also applies to Lilian (24) and Felice, who also didn’t make it to the next round. On the other hand, all the male models can breathe a sigh of relief: they are all one round ahead. A convincing performance! But Jermaine (19) knows: The next round will be screened even more vigorously.
