Trampoline drama and lost in the maze: the way to the top ten is bumpy

What happened?

Double déjà vu for the candidates: First they get another visit from choreographer Nikeata Thompson. She practices with them how to pose more confidently in front of the camera. They are supposed to put what they have learned to the test at the photo shoot – where they also meet a familiar face: photographer Yu Tsai. The American was already a guest in the second episode and was not exactly squeamish with the young models. Also this time several participants get to hear his harsh verdict. The candidates should jump on a trampoline in voluminous evening dresses and pose as elegantly as possible in the air. Anita is the first and fails at the task. “It’s not good. It’s very bad. It’s a mess. I can’t look at it. It’s embarrassing. I’m ashamed. It was a nightmare,” says the photographer. Yu Tsai is also not enthusiastic about Noella. “I’m shocked. It just keeps getting worse and worse. It’s like a model parody. It’s like a skit.” His conclusion is quite devastating: “This is one of the most frustrating and worst photo shoots I’ve ever photographed.”

Candidate Lena finds out shortly before the photo shoot that she is getting a makeover. The 21-year-old imagines everything that could happen: razor-short hair, a long bob, a flashy color. In the end she gets a radiant blonde and extensions. Lena is happy and can’t stop raving: “This hair, I’m like a different person, it’s my absolute dream makeover, it couldn’t have gone better.” Competitor Sophie judges: “You don’t look like Lena anymore.”

The guest judge

Fashion designer Peter Dundas sits next to Heidi Klum on the jury chair. The Norwegian was creative director at luxury labels such as Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier and Roberto Cavalli before founding his own label Dundas. His designs are known for hip-high leg slits, low backs, sexy lacing and sophisticated cut-outs. Rapper Mary J. Blige wore a Dundas creation at her Super Bowl performance earlier this year. Now the GNTM candidates are allowed to show the fashion. But that’s not the only challenge. The final decision takes place in a labyrinth. Candidate Sophie is wandering around there and only finds the exit with the help of Heidi Klum’s calls. Peter Dundas, on the other hand, is enthusiastic about Anita. “It’s a good sign when you leave me speechless,” says the designer.

GNTM 2022: who has to go?

Vanessa misses the entry into the top ten. The 20-year-old received sharp criticism from the photographer during the shoot: “We are looking for models, not fitness trainers. She does sports exercises. She does the jumping jack.” Even fashion designer Peter Dundas could not convince her because she held onto her dress during the presentation. “It’s really not possible,” said the guest judge. And Klum added: “She opens the dress like a curtain.” A double faux pas that meant the end for Vanessa.
