Glued down with superglue – now what? – Health

According to Cécile Bessire from the “Renovate Switzerland” climate protection initiative, about one tube of ordinary superglue per person is needed to stick to the ground. She needs to know: It wasn’t until mid-October that activists stuck themselves at the A3 motorway exit in Zurich. Previously, they were stuck, for example, on Zurich’s Utoquai, in Bern-Wankdorf, in Geneva and on the asphalt at Zurich’s Hardbrücke. Superglue was also recently used for the climate at the Paris Motor Show: There, activists from the group “Extinction Rebellion” stuck to sports cars. In Berlin, protesters from the “last generation” have been sticking to intersections for weeks. In Munich, activists from “Scientist Rebellion” and “Debt for Climate” pinned themselves in front of the offices of financial investor Blackrock. And in various museums in Frankfurt, Dresden, Potsdam and Berlin, among others, climate protectors have stuck to the frames of paintings in recent weeks. It’s the job of the police to get people off the frames or off the streets; because of the glue it can take a while. The Zurich City Police have a simple recipe for gently removing the tar from activists. “The police in Zurich use sunflower oil for this,” says Cecile Bessire.
