Thomas Jorberg, 64, still remembers his first time at Öko-Bank GLS. He started as an apprentice there in 1977, he was the first apprentice at GLS in Bochum. What kind of times were those times? He made the booking of payments using the manual carbonless method until the booking machine moved in a little later. Jorberg is making a quick career; he has now been the board spokesman of the “Community Bank for Lending and Giving” for almost 20 years. For a long time, GLS was a niche provider in eco-banking – now the whole economy is moving towards climate neutrality.
