Gloria-Sophie Burkandt spoke openly about her childhood, which was marked by bullying at school and problems with ADHD.

Gloria-Sophie Burkandt, daughter of Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (54, CSU), has in an interview with “Bild am Sonntag” reveals that she has faced exclusion and bullying in the past. “For me it started in kindergarten and continued through my entire school days. The children shouted ‘Giant baby!’ after me, they made fun of me because I was different from nature and behavior, “she told the newspaper.

Since she was wild and loud and also big, chubby and much too sweet, she was the “perfect target” for other children. “I just wanted to belong, so I put up with everything, defenseless.” At times it was so bad “that I was hit and kicked by boys and girls. I bought soccer shin guards that I wore under my jeans so that it wouldn’t hurt so much,” says Burkandt.

Even the more left-leaning teachers let them feel “what they thought of Papa’s politics – not much”. Still, she liked going to school and didn’t tell her parents about it. “I didn’t want to burden them, and I never cried in front of them.”

As a child, she was also diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder). “I had an IQ of 135, but at the same time I couldn’t sit still and learn why I had bad grades,” says the model. However, her parents did not “stuff her full with pills”, for which she is still grateful to this day. She got it under control without any means and today, in addition to being a model, is pursuing her career with a master’s degree in economics and a possible doctorate. Burkandt, who is 1.85 meters tall, emphasizes: “It was only through the injuries to my child’s soul that I became the woman I am today. I won’t let myself be deterred, I consistently pursue my goals and am proud to be so tall.”
