Girl Math: Young woman explains her high expenses on TikTok

Watch the video: Young woman explains how Gen Z glosses over high expenses – her father is stunned.

How do you calculate the high expenses of everyday life? Young social media users are showing the way. The trend is called “Girl Math” or “Boy Math” – i.e. girls’ and boys’ math – and it’s very simple. Parents whose children belong to Generation Z are amazed when they want to understand the economic reality of their children. How can you make money with this form of economics? A TikTok user explains it: “Boy Math”, on the other hand, is a little simpler and could also arise from the crude sales logic of an insurance salesman, but it takes place solely in the minds of those who use it for self-deception. Josh Benevides explained to the Wall Street Journal how it works : “If I use a $400 bike 400 times, it costs me a dollar per ride,” but because he used it 4,000 times, he has a bike that costs just a few cents.
