Gilles Lellouche will light up the Champs-Élysées this evening

It’s D-day for the most beautiful avenue in the world. This Sunday, the illuminations of the Champs-Élysées will be switched on during the now traditional ceremony organized by the Champs-Élysées Committee. Preceded by a Latin music show and a batucada, the ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

And it is this year’s godfather, the actor and director Gilles Lellouche (Bac Nord, Astérix et Obélix: L’Empire du Milieu, etc.) who will be responsible for pressing the switch at 7:35 p.m. He will be accompanied on the podium by the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo and three seriously ill children accompanied by the Petits Princes association. A DJ Set will follow which will close the evening.

400 trees for seven weeks

This year, 400 trees will sparkle until January 7, from 5 p.m. to midnight, and even all night on the evenings of December 24 and 31. This is a little longer than last year, when the bulbs were only on for six weeks (instead of seven), and turned off at 11:45 p.m.

Also note that the Champs Elysées will be adorned with four posters, placed in 400 locations throughout the avenue, and presenting four couples “one of which is made up of two young girls kissing”. A way, according to Marc-Antoine Jamet, president of the Champs-Élysées Committee, of being “in the image of society”.

In partnership with Make.org, Paris City Hall is organizing a major public debate, the “Parisian Dialogues”, on the subject “Growing up well in Paris”. To participate, simply make your suggestions on the following form:
