After Gil Ofarim confessed in court that he had wrongly made anti-Semitism allegations against the staff of a Leipzig hotel, the singer’s image has been tarnished. In the last few days, the 41-year-old withdrew from the public and his Instagram profile can no longer be found.
Whether Gil Ofarim’s career can still be saved will become clear in the coming months and years. A major TV station is now saying that it is not planning to work with him in the near future.
Gil Ofarim: Removal from TV station
Last year, the singer was allowed to play the role of a disciple in the RTL production “Die Passion” – although charges of defamation, false suspicion and fraud were brought against him in the same year. For this reason, the station came under criticism at the time.

Gil Ofarim will not appear on RTL’s program again in the foreseeable future. A spokesperson tells the “Picture” on request with:
“There are currently no plans with Gil Ofarim in the entertainment sector.”

Participation in the jungle camp next January, for example, is likely to be ruled out. And another station is keeping its distance for the time being. “We are currently not planning a format with Gil Ofarim,” says RTL Two.
At ProSiebenSat.1, however, people are keeping a low profile. The announcement here is: “As a matter of principle, we do not discuss any collaboration with an artist publicly.”
Gil Ofarim: Back on stage soon?
There are currently no concert dates listed on the artist’s homepage, but at least you can read: “More dates will follow soon.” Whether this will actually be the case is rather questionable.
Gil Ofarim’s last tour organizer at least struck a critical note. Jan Mewes from Mewes Entertainment organized a few shows for him in Germany in 2022 and now explains to “Bild”:
“When I heard about Gil’s confession in court, I was shocked and seriously disappointed in him as a person. Because he not only lied to the public, but also to me personally. For me, the basis for further cooperation no longer exists.”

Mewes also makes it clear if further concerts were currently planned, he would cancel them. He is convinced that the audience “won’t forgive Gil Ofarim so quickly” for his lie. If this is true, it would ultimately mean the loss of a crucial source of income for the singer.
The situation would be all the more difficult for him if the TV stations turned away from him in the long term. Gil Ofarim has appeared on television again and again over the decades, including successfully taking part in “Let’s Dance” on RTL. In 2018 he won against Pietro Lombardi on the show “Schlag den Star” and took second place on “The Masked Singer” in 2019.
