Gigaset GX6: Outdoor cell phone with 5G and removable battery

With the GX6, Gigaset has announced a new outdoor cell phone made in Germany. The smartphone supports 5G and has a removable battery. It should be available from September 29th and cost 580 euros in the Gigaset shop.



The Gigaset GS5 comes with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space.

At the market launch, the Gigaset GX6 runs with Google’s Android 12. The manufacturer promises security updates for “up to five years” from the market launch and offers buyers two major Android updates up to version 14. The GX6 is produced in Bocholt, the components come from Asia.

The GX6 is designed as a robust mobile phone for outdoors. According to Gigaset, it has been certified to be dustproof, waterproof and shockproof according to MIL-STD-810H as well as IP68 – both certificates are not independently checked. The replaceable battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh and can be charged with up to 30 watts. A power supply is not included.

The IPS display of the GX6 is 6.6 inches, has a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hertz, which can also be set to 60 or 90 Hertz if desired to save battery. On the back sits a dual camera with a wide-angle lens of 50 megapixels including optical image stabilizer.

The SoC Mediatek Dimensity 900 5G works inside, which is supported by 6 GB of RAM. The storage capacity of the 5G cell phone is 128 GB, and there is a microSD slot for memory expansion. Overall, the Gigaset cell phone measures 17 x 8 x 1.2 centimeters.

The Gigaset GX6 can be unlocked using a fingerprint sensor (on the side) or face recognition. It supports Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC and has a jack for wired headphones.
