The GNTM participants are going to Berlin this week, to some castings and through a ball pool in high heels.

The models are back in Berlin and money is finally being made: Casting week at “Germany’s Next Top Model” (Thursday, 8:15 p.m., ProSieben). Designer Kilian Kerner is looking for models for his fashion week show in Berlin. Not only GNTM participants are cast, but a total of 700 models, which does not necessarily reduce the pressure on the newcomers.

Kerner is impressed by Olivia (22): “It’s a dream, how the woman walks!” Nicole (49) hits him even more: “The woman has an aura!” With Coco (21), the designer finds it difficult to concentrate because her face is too beautiful. And with Nina (22) it’s such a thing. Her type would be perfect, but nothing else is right: walk, skirt, corsage. Without further ado, he dresses her up and trains her for the catwalk. Ultimately, he takes the risk and chooses Nina and Nicole. A boost for self-confidence for Nina: “I have to believe in myself like Kilian does!”

tears at the casting

Vivien (22), Olivia (22), Selma (18) and Ida (23) are allowed to go to the next casting for a nail polish brand. This time it’s getting emotional. Inspired by her strong mother, Olivia can contribute her story to the topic “Express your Power”. “Twenty years ago, deportation was at the top of the list and now you’re here,” she says, tearfully, about her life – and infects the others with it. “All of a sudden we’re all crying,” Selma said after taking over the tear-drying kitchen roll. In the end, Olivia got the job, and with her openness she was “pure power” for the decision-makers.

It’s back to Los Angeles for the last casting. For a handbag label, the girls are supposed to style themselves according to given hashtags and present the bags in teams of two. With Coco and Mirella (20), the presentation backfires – they had agreed to go hand in hand. But when Coco Mirella holds out her hand, she just looks at it and moves on. “Yes, it didn’t look stupid to you,” Coco is annoyed afterwards. Ida is able to convince the founders “because she is a very commercial model. A classic beauty”.

Even Heidi stumbles

The elimination walk at the end of the week then becomes particularly absurd and “ouch”. The task: walk through a ball pit on high heels and look as if nothing happened. Heidi Klum (49), fashion journalist Anna Dello Russo (61) and designer Kilian Kerner support the assessment. Even Heidi stumbles over the balls as she runs, even spears them with her heels and has to admit. “That is not easy!”

“Not easy” is good. It’s rather impossible to do it in any cool way. The girls watch each other while holding their breath. “It looked catastrophic,” says Selma about Nina’s Walk. But there are also models who solve the challenge quite well. Mirella and Vivienne convince the judges. With Ida, Heidi even keeps her mouth open while Kerner wonders: “How does she do it?”

Two models have too much personality

The production seems to like the wobbly act a bit too much: at the end, the models all have to walk over the balls together and then again in groups of two for a conversation. For two of the participants, the egg dance was not worth it: Cassy (23), who has always been more of a pop star than a screen, has to go because of her lack of changeability. Which really just means she has “too much” personality. Marielena (52) has a similar problem. Everyone loves the positivity of the best ager, but neither Kilian nor Heidi sees her as a model.
