In 2021, professional cyclist Politt won the Deutschland Tour for the first time. The native of Cologne laid a good foundation for a repeat two years later.

After fifth place in the prologue of the 38th Germany Tour, he is a professional cyclist Nils Politt confident for his home tour.

The Bora-hansgrohe pro won the race back in 2021 – two years later he still sees good chances of triumphing on the final day on Sunday in Bremen. “Let’s see – I’m watching from day to day. Tomorrow will be the first difficult stage,” said Politt after the 2.3-kilometer hunt for seconds at the start on ARD and added: “We showed a very solid performance as a team today and as a German team we are of course very excited to be up front here.”

In the 2.3-kilometer individual time trial on the street circuit in St. Wendel, Saarland, the 29-year-old from Cologne was stopped with a time of 2:26.910 minutes and ended up in fifth place. The first stage is 179 kilometers in Merzig. In the final, a difficult target round with a 1.7 kilometer climb awaits, which has to be conquered twice.

This was already on the program for the new edition of the tour in 2018. “I know the arrival, I was second there in 2018, so it’s a good place for me,” said Politt and added: “It will certainly be more difficult for some because it goes up there twice. But I think for I should be fine.”
