British professional cyclist Adam Yates has won the Deutschland Tour. The 30-year-old completed his overall victory in Stuttgart after taking over the red jersey from the overall leader at the top of the Schauinsland the day before.

In the sprint of a leading group after 186.6 kilometers from Schiltach to the capital of Baden-Württemberg, the victory of the day was secured by the Spaniard Pello Bilbao, who finished second in the final, 22 seconds behind Yates. Second of the day was the Portuguese Ruben Guerreiro ahead of Augsburg’s Georg Zimmermann. As fourth overall, Zimmermann missed the final podium by three seconds.

The tour began on Wednesday with a prologue in Weimar and ended after a total of 710.7 kilometers, as in 2018, in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg. Yates is the successor to Nils Politt, who took overall victory last year.
