The 49 euro ticket is now in Germany established. Many customers have completed it and can now travel on regional transport throughout Germany for 49 euros a month. You have taken out a subscription that is not that easy to cancel. Many users have already noticed this. Because when you go to the website or app, the big search begins. RTL consumer advocate Ron Perduss criticizes this. Is Deutsche Bahn deliberately luring you into the subscription trap?

Cancel Germany ticket? That’s what an expert advises

According to the expert, it’s not that bad. But: Customers have to search for a long time before they find what they need. “It’s actually very clearly regulated by law in Germany: If I conclude a contract or subscription online, then as a consumer I must also be able to cancel this subscription very easily online, for example using a clearly visible cancellation button,” says Perduss.

This is not really clearly visible in this case.

Customers who want to cancel the 49 euro ticket should therefore proceed as follows:

  1. The cancellation takes place online. To do this, you must log in with your rail account. Have your ticket subscription number to hand.
  2. You will find the relevant Germany ticket under “My Tickets”. You then have to select this ticket in another submenu and then click on the additional button “Cancel Germany ticket”.
  3. You should then receive an email from Deutsche Bahn.
  4. Important: Be sure to check your mailbox. If the email confirming the cancellation has not been received, you are missing important proof. If you haven’t received an email, you should contact Deutsche Bahn’s customer service.

Also good to know: Cancellation is always possible by the tenth of a calendar month at the latest.
