Germany needs an industrial policy worthy of the name – economy

The economy is facing upheaval, at home as well as in the world. The federal government should therefore finally support the industry instead of continuing to refuse leadership.

It was supposed to be a departure. The new federal government promised the citizens the blue sky, because they want to bring the green into the economy. The progress was glorified by the traffic light coalition as a courageous risk, as if previous governments had not wanted it. And despite the good intentions, there are no signs of a change in economic policy. The mistakes of the new government are depressingly similar to those of previous coalitions. Olaf Scholz (SPD), Christian Lindner (FDP) and Robert Habeck (Greens) seem discouraged weeks after they start. The traffic light has already made itself a prisoner, it has long been entangled in the political undergrowth and it will be difficult for it to free itself for big goals.
