Of course it won’t be without turbulence – but when, if not now: Germany has to do without Russian energy. She can afford to cushion the financial consequences.

The West is funding Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine. While Russia bombs cities in the neighboring country, gas continues to flow to Europe, filling the coffers of Russia’s energy exporter with valuable western currency. Oil and gas have become significantly more expensive since the attack on Ukraine, which is why the Kremlin is currently receiving a particularly large amount of money for its raw materials. This is cynical in the face of war horror – and must stop immediately.
