Correct answers for money: According to research, businessmen offer immigrants the solutions for German tests – for 250 euros.

The German test is crucial for a longer stay or even a German passport. But as the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) has now revealed in a research, immigrants can buy the correct answers on the Internet days before the important exam.

It costs 50 euros to be included in the Telegram group where the tests are offered. For a further 200 euros, members then receive the questions and correct answers for their German exam, reports WDR. In addition to the answers, there are also additional explanations in Arabic.

German test is part of the integration courses

WDR became aware of the fraud through an exam participant. During her own exam, she was surprised at how quickly some participants finished the German test. She found out about the sale from a course participant via Telegram.

The German test for immigrants is part of the so-called integration courses for which the Federal Ministry for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) is responsible. When asked by WDR, the responsible manager, Benjamin Beckermann, explains his guess as to how the solutions come onto the internet: “The most obvious thing is that a person at an examination center – but then probably with at least several people who know it – sends the security envelope in which the examination documents are sent opened illegally and photographed these documents.”

According to the WDR research, it is not surprising that there is generally cheating in the tests. In Bochum, the provider GASTeV handles the language tests for the Bamf. As WDR reports, people here are surprised by this type of fraud.

360,000 people will take the German test in 2023

The security measures before the test are strict. The questions are sent to the testing centers in sealed envelopes and are only opened there shortly before the test under the supervision of independent witnesses. This makes it difficult for those responsible for the testing centers to say where the leak is, according to the research.

Up to 20,000 people take the German test per exam weekend, with tests taking place every two weeks. Last year alone, more than 360,000 people took the German test for immigrants. It is impossible to say how many of them bought the answers.
