German stabbed in Paris: The Eiffel Tower attacker was no stranger – politics

An Islamist stabs a German tourist in Paris. It quickly becomes clear: the alleged perpetrator was on the list of dangerous people and was already in custody for a planned attack. Concerns about further terror in France are growing.

Again the perpetrator was known to the authorities, and again that didn’t help. In Paris, a 26-year-old Frenchman who the French domestic secret service had listed in its files as a possible threat, known as “Fiché S”, attacked passers-by who were near the Eiffel Tower with a knife and a hammer. A 24-year-old German tourist was hit in the back and shoulder, suffered cardiac arrest and died. His partner was shocked. The suspected assassin then attacked two other people, injuring one in the eye with the hammer. The police then managed to stop him with a Taser. He had apparently threatened to blow himself up.
