German School Barometer: “The snapshot of a sick system” – Politics

Almost half of the teachers observe violence among students, a quarter are thinking about changing careers: A study shows what problems schools are struggling with – and what would help them.

The Pisa shock at the end of last year has barely been digested before the next study comes out with bad news about the German education system: almost every second teacher observes cases of physical or psychological violence among students at their school, at schools in socially disadvantaged locations The figure is even 69 percent of teachers. This emerges from the German School Barometer, a representative study commissioned by the Robert Bosch Foundation, for which more than 1,600 teachers nationwide were surveyed.
