After four minutes he looked suitably grim – his front men had let him down when Joey Veermann was allowed to shoot on his own from a central position and then into his goal. He almost drew the displeasure of his defense when he misjudged a sharp cross after 18 minutes, but his wobble had no consequences. In the second half, he confidently defused a hard long-range shot from Donyell Malen that was aimed at him. Otherwise rowed with his arms, like Dutch windmills do in the North Sea air. Not to motivate his team, but just to keep warm.
