Quite soberly and calmly, some human rights activists have tried to use factual arguments. Even German citizens who have committed terrible crimes abroad remain German. Even if they reject our democratic values and place their crude understanding of religion above all else: They may have thrown away their passports, but the Martins and Muhammads, but the Sinas and Susannes, have not lost their citizenship and their rights. Even if they flew to Turkey on a one-way ticket and then deliberately took the wrong turn: caliphate instead of bed castle, terror instead of all inclusive.
