Among the horror scenarios that occasionally rob politicians and managers of sleep when it comes to Germany as a business location, one is probably the most frightening: a complete, abrupt decoupling of the Federal Republic of Germany from the superpower China. Such a case, triggered by an attack by the People’s Republic on its neighbor Taiwan and the subsequent sanctions and counter-sanctions, would have devastating consequences for the local economy, after all, last year alone Germany and China exchanged goods worth almost 300 billion euros.
