German Cookbook Prize 2023: Gold for Jamie Oliver and the “Bread Pope”

Yesterday, Tuesday evening, it was that time again: Germany’s best cookbooks were honored. Since 2020 the German cookbook award from the cookbook blog Norway lobster, which is run by journalists Benjamin Cordes and Stefan Spiegel. It honors the best German-language cookbooks of a year in 26 different categories. All cookbooks that were published in German between December 1st of the previous year and November 30th of the year of the award will be taken into account.

“Bread Pope” Lutz Geisslerhas the fourth time in a row “Bread” section decided for themselves. His work “The New Bread Baking Formula” contains uncomplicated recipes that are aimed at beginners. In the popular section for simple Everyday kitchen has Jamie Oliverwon the award with “5 ingredients Mediterranean”. He follows in second place Tim Mälzer with “Twenty-seven-seven cooking“. We present the most important awards from bread, to German cuisine, to star cuisine and the newcomer prize in the following section.

A jury of 43 culinary experts selected the prize winners from around 100 nominated books. The prizes were awarded at a celebratory gala with over 120 guests in Hamburg.
