The company sells aids to thousands of people in need of care and works with confidential data such as the respective level of care. It is unclear where she got this from. Not only health insurance companies are alarmed.

The letter looks and reads official. “German Care Alliance” is written in the letterhead. The subject line: “Your application: for care aids free of charge for consumption”. It is attached as an order form. Absorbent bed protection inserts, disposable gloves, protective aprons, various disinfectants – everything has already been ticked. Johanna Kolbeck, 92, only has to sign. Then the care set will be delivered to you. Every month, the German Care Alliance promises “convenient, free shipping” and “permanently free of additional payments”. She also settles everything directly with the health insurance company, the old woman doesn’t have to worry about anything. Everything seems to be right. After all, all personal data is already correctly entered in the order form: address, date of birth, health insurance of Ms. Kolbeck, even her insurance number and the level of care. So, highly sensitive data, which begs the question: How do a private company get it?
