Gérard Depardieu “is a monster yes, but a sacred monster” defends his former agent Jean-Louis Livi in Additional investigation

This Thursday, December 7, 2023, “Complément d’Enquête” broadcast its latest issue dedicated to Gérard Depardieu. While damning videos show the obscene behavior of the 74-year-old French actor with several women, his former agent Jean-Louis Livi reacted in the red armchairs of the show.

The former agent of “the ogre”, Jean Louis Livi, was the guest in the red armchairs of the show. This recognized producer defended his friend, whom he has known for 40 years, while the images show the actor’s numerous damning slip-ups.

While Gérard Depardieu did not wish to participate in the show, Jean-Louis Livi wanted to “still tell (his) few truths” about his friend and former protégé.

Before viewing the images, he declared about the actor: “I believe that he is deeply affected, that it extinguishes him. With this tomb of insults falling on him, he does not have the possibility of express himself, or he doesn’t want to.”

“Neither a rapist nor a predator”

At the end of the program, to the question from journalist Tristan Waleckx: “Do you think that Depardieu is an aggressor according to the images you see?”, Jean-Louis Livi answers: “Certainly not”. And this, despite the numerous damning images filmed by Yann Moix during a trip to North Korea in 2018.

The producer considers the show to be a “media spectacle”, a “totally incriminating case”.

Before continuing: “I know Gérard Depardieu. He is neither a rapist nor a predator. It’s false. He’s a monster yes, but he’s also a sacred monster. He’s a monument.”

“He is not what we just saw on the screen”

If the producer “totally disapproves” of Gérard Depardieu’s behavior and has never “been complacent”, he insists that the actor is “incapable of raping anyone”.

“He is not what we just saw on the screen. He is also someone else. And this someone else is more important than what we saw” declares Jean-Louis Livi.

The agent insists by specifying that: “There is the presumption of innocence. Until then, Gérard Depardieu has not been convicted. (…) The Ministry of Justice is not media justice”, launched Jean-Louis Livi who declared that he could still produce films with the actor because “he is the best actor of all time”.

Targeted by two complaints and accused by around fifteen women

As a reminder, Gérard Depardieu is the subject of several accusations. Indicted for “rape” and “sexual assault” since December 2020 following Charlotte Arnould’s complaint, the actor is accused by around fifteen women of sexual violence. Another woman, actress Hélène Darras, filed a complaint this Wednesday, December 6 against the actor.

He also allegedly participated in rapes at the age of nine, according to his own words during press interviews filmed in the 1970s and 1990s.

Accusations that the “sacred monster of the big screen” rejected in an open letter published in Le Figaro on October 1, in which he affirms not to be “a predator” and assures: “Never, ever have I abused ‘a woman”.
