The trial of the attacks of November 13, 2015 under tension. Gérald Darmanin sent a telegram on Monday to the police prefects of Paris and Bouches-du-Rhône, as well as to the prefects of the metropolitan and overseas defense zones. In this document, it calls for their “total collective vigilance (…) both with regard to the endogenous and exogenous (terrorist) threat” during the trial, in particular around places classified as sensitive.

The Minister of the Interior thus asked his executives to maintain “a high level of vigilance, especially around places of worship, places of learning, large gatherings in a context of return to normalcy and old people. places of attacks ”. “You will therefore mobilize the internal security forces for a visible and dissuasive presence,” he adds.

Avoid a succession of attacks as in 2020

Gérald Darmanin recalls that, last year, the trial of the January 2015 attacks had been the occasion of a “succession of attacks on national territory” (against the former local Charlie Hebdo, assassination of Samuel Paty mid- October) following the republication by the satirical weekly of cartoons of Muhammad.

The trial of the jihadist attacks of November 13, the deadliest committed on French territory, opens Wednesday for nine months before the special assize court in Paris. Twenty defendants are being prosecuted there, including Salah Abdeslam, the only survivor of the commandos which left 130 dead and several hundred wounded around the Stade de France, on the terraces of Parisian bistros and in the concert hall of the Bataclan.
