Gérald Darmanin asks the prefects to strengthen the security of elected officials

As health measures tighten, the executive is worried about the safety of elected officials. Gérald Darmanin thus asked the prefects on Wednesday to strengthen the protection of elected officials “in the context of the examination of the draft bill of the vaccine pass”.

In a telegram addressed to the prefects, the Minister of the Interior asks to systematize the integration of the homes and offices of elected officials in the police and gendarmerie patrols. According to the text, the parliamentary debate on this new bill aimed at transforming the health pass into a vaccination pass is “likely to give rise to threats or even acts of action against elected officials”.

During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the personal garage of the LREM deputy for Oise Pascal Bois, in Chambly, was damaged and hostile inscriptions possibly linked to the vaccination pass, tagged on a perimeter wall of his home. Inscriptions “Vote no” and “Ca va péter!” Were painted on the wall adjoining the garage, said the deputy.
