Season one of “House of the Dragon”, the first spin-off series of “Game of Thrones”, is in the can. That’s what George RR Martin revealed.

Fans are still waiting for author George RR Martin (73) to confirm the completion of his new novel from the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. But the 73-year-old has now announced something else via Twitter: “Exciting news from London – I’ve been informed that filming for the first season of ‘House of the Dragon’ has been completed.” That’s what Martin writes about a poster of the “Game of Thrones” offshoot, which will play around 200 years before the original series.

At the end of last year, Martin revealed that he was already allowed to review a rough version of the first episode. He showed himself in a post on his website at the time delighted with the result: “I love it. It’s dark, it’s powerful, it’s deep… just how I like my epic fantasy.”

Well-known stars are there

The first season of “House of the Dragon” will consist of ten episodes. Among others, Matt Smith (39), Emma D’Arcy (29), Steve Toussaint (56), Rhys Ifans (54), Olivia Cooke (28) and Paddy Considine (48) will be seen in it. The series is slated to premiere on HBO in 2022.
