At the end of the year, Genesis is in full swing more than ever. After the Korean luxury brand from the Hyundai Group recently launched its new G70 and the GV70 Electrified, the top model G90 is now available.

Hardly any international car manufacturer is pushing the pace as quickly as the Hyundai Group. Whether compact class, electric crossover or luxury sedan from the brand trio Kia, Hyundai or Genesis – the Koreans not only want to become the world’s three largest car companies in terms of quantities, but also set top values with each of their brands and thus ensure volume and image gain at the same time. More important than ever is the right figurehead and that has now been revealed at least from the outside. The new Genesis G90, with its equally soft and powerful forms, competes against the German triumvirate of the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class.

The four-eyed face, the large radiator grille and the sweeping shapes are striking. The rear ends smoothly, almost like a luxury coupé, and is completed by a distinctive light signature with connected LED elements. Like the international competitors, the Genesis G90 is also offered with two wheelbases. Even the version with a normal wheelbase is over five meters long and offers every imaginable luxury. With a view to the markets in Asia and the USA, Genesis is also offering the G90 in a version with a 19 centimeter longer wheelbase, which offers a particularly large living space in the rear. There are air-conditioned leather armchairs with massage function and electrically operated roller blinds for maximum relaxation. Maximum noise reduction and insulating glass ensure peace and quiet.

In contrast to its little brother, the Genesis G80, four-cylinders shouldn’t play a role in the brand’s figurehead. Six- and eight-cylinder units set the tone here, and a plug-in hybrid version is specially designed for the US markets. The Genesis G90 will be optionally available with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The current Genesis G90 variant currently starts at around $ 73,000 in the US. The current generation is currently only available with a 3.3 liter V6 turbo engine with an output of 365 hp. However, this is likely to be replaced by the more modern 3.5-liter V6 with 375 hp. In Asia, the G90 is still offered with a 5.0-liter V8 and around 450 hp – like the smaller six-cylinder combined with an eight-speed automatic. An electric version seems to be set for the new edition as well as the plug-in version – the technical platform on which the current GV80 is based – gives the Koreans at least all possibilities. A market launch in Europe has not yet been decided. Anyone who knows the enthusiasm in the Hyundai Group can hardly rule it out in order to hold their own against the German premium trio.
