Within a few days, a progressive self-determination law is presented in Germany, which is intended to enable people to freely choose their gender designation, from which trans people in particular will benefit; and a public debate erupts about whether the equality of non-binary and transgender identities is legitimate at all. This supposed paradox is significant: Socially dangerous battles are currently flaring up for the rights of queer people.
