Gender and equality: Interview with Liv Stapelfeldt and Anton Nuremberg – Munich

Gendering has become a given in many theaters, but does that mean the conditions are the same for everyone? And how does the younger generation perceive this? A conversation with Liv Stapelfeldt and Anton Nürnberg from the Volkstheater Ensemble on the occasion of the premiere of “In the Gardens or Lysistrata Part 2”, a play in which men die out.

A world without men? In Sibylle Berg’s play “In the Gardens or Lysistrata Part II” it is almost like that. Today’s present, the distribution of roles between men and women can only be viewed in a museum. Volkstheater director Christian Stückl is now bringing the piece to the stage with three actresses and three actors. This raises the question of how much issues such as equality, feminism, quotas and toxic masculinity affect the young ensemble at this theater – and how they themselves are affected by them in the theater. Liv Stapelfeldt, born in 1997, and Anton Nürnberg, born in 1998, both currently cast in several major productions, have clear answers.
