There, drivers in North Rhine-Westphalia had to pay an average of 44.4 cents more for a liter of Super E10 than at petrol stations off the motorway. Diesel was an average of 40.6 cents more expensive.
According to its own information, the ADAC compared the fuel prices at seven motorway filling stations in North Rhine-Westphalia with the prices of the nearest filling station off the motorway at the same time in March. The inglorious front-runner for the Super E10 was the “Remscheid West” facility on the A1: a liter cost 53.4 cents more there. The largest price difference for diesel was 46.7 cents at the “Bedburger Land West” service area on the A61. ADAC traffic expert Roman Suthold criticized that the petroleum industry was shamelessly exploiting the leeway in pricing to the detriment of consumers. He advised motorists to consistently refuel off the freeways. In this way, a lot of money can usually be saved despite a short detour.
