Gas supplier – Uniper wants more money – economy

The troubled gas supplier Uniper SE has applied for an increase in its KfW credit facility by four billion euros for further stabilization, according to a company statement. Discussions with the federal government and Uniper’s majority shareholder Fortum Oyj on the implementation of the stabilization package – including equity measures – are ongoing. Uniper has just received a further two billion euros from the existing credit facility with the KfW banking group and has thus fully utilized the line of nine billion euros. The company said its liquidity position continues to be significantly impacted by the disruptions in Russian gas supplies. The recent increase in gas supply restrictions and the associated price developments on the European energy markets and exchanges have recently increased Uniper’s liquidity requirements even further.
