Gas and energy crisis: environmental aid criticizes LNG terminals – politics

Environmental aid does not want to willfully delay the construction of the LNG terminals in Wilhelmshaven and Brunsbüttel. A conversation with her boss Sascha Müller-Kraenner about what he still expects from the government.

Germany is running out of gas. The federal government and companies are working flat out to build two floating LNG terminals in Wilhelmshaven and Brunsbüttel as early as next winter, so that ships, for example from the USA or Qatar, can land with the liquefied gas. The German Environmental Aid (DUH) lodged an objection at the beginning of May and called for an immediate halt to construction. Even Economics Minister Robert Habeck warned the DUH against lawsuits because the energy crisis was worsening due to the Russian war in Ukraine. Federal Managing Director Sascha Müller-Kraenner defends the position of environmental aid.
