And they are moving: the falling prices on the energy exchanges are now also affecting the electricity and gas customers of the local basic suppliers – although by no means all of them. This emerges from an analysis by the consumer portal Verivox. According to this, a total of 91 electricity and 80 gas companies reduced their tariffs in May, June and July. Electricity is about 14 percent cheaper on average, and gas is 23 percent cheaper. The record prices of the energy crisis are over. Overall, however, “the price level remains high,” according to the analysis.
