According to unanimous media reports, the traffic light coalition has reached agreement on a crucial point in the gas and electricity price brake law. This is reported by the “Spiegel” and the “Handelsblatt”. The question is whether companies should pay bonuses to their executives, managing directors or supervisory boards and distribute dividends to shareholders.
According to the reports, the agreement now stipulates that no bonuses or dividends should be paid out from an aid payment of 50 million euros. With amounts between 25 and 50 million euros in state support from the subsidized electricity and gas prices, companies should not increase the bonuses to their management in the coming year, it said. However, the distribution of dividends remains unaffected. According to the “Handelsblatt”, the MPs still have to agree in large groups at the parliamentary group meetings on Tuesday.
Draft law in the Bundestag on Thursday
According to the “Spiegel”, it remains an agreement that the three top budget holders of the SPD, Greens and FDP would have originally negotiated. The FDP had questioned this compromise again in the past few days. Now the Greens in particular have prevailed.
The draft law of the Federal Ministry of Economics on the gas and electricity price brake is to be passed in the Bundestag on Thursday. Time is running out so that the Federal Council can finally approve the law on Friday. The regulations are to come into force from March 1st, but will be calculated and paid out retrospectively from January 1st.
