Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Ski accident on the Zugspitze – Bavaria

A skier was seriously injured on a descent on the Zugspitze. According to the police, the 30-year-old was driving on a slope in the Wetterwandeck area in the afternoon when she fell for reasons that have not yet been clarified.

Subsequent skiers found the woman from North Rhine-Westphalia, who had worn a helmet on the descent, with serious injuries behind a crest. She was then treated by the mountain rescue service and then taken to a clinic by rescue helicopter.

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen Police Inspectorate has started investigating how the accident happened and is asking witnesses who saw the fall to contact the police.

Editor’s Note: The first version of this article said the woman died in hospital after the fall. This was based on information from the police. However, she corrected her information on Sunday afternoon: The skier did not die, but is still being treated in the hospital with serious injuries.
