How to properly install the Christmas tree?
We forget it too often, but before even decorating the tree, it is a matter of installing it correctly. If your tree is not flocked and you want to add snow or frost, it is important to start there. Allow the product to dry completely before handling the tree. It is then time to install it, ensuring that it is perfectly stable. Planter, basket or fir carpet: it is more elegant to dress your base.
In what order should you decorate the Christmas tree?
The first element that we install is the light garland. Although it may seem tedious, it is recommended to start by making sure to verify that it works! Install it from the top and down. Don’t hesitate to turn it on to get a better idea of the results. Beautiful lighting is essential to enhance the tree during the evening. So take the time to ensure that the light is distributed evenly!
Add the star to the top of the tree at the very end, as a finishing touch? This is something we see a lot, but… Spoiler Alert: It’s a bad idea. And it’s even one of the mistakes you should definitely not make when decorating your tree. The risk is dropping decorations or hanging a garland and knocking over the tree! It is therefore the element that we install just after the light garland!
Traditional garlands tend to disappear in favor of more contemporary and, above all, more minimalist alternatives: wooden beads or dried fruit garlands, for example. The trick to successfully decorating the tree is to install them before the balls and hanging ornaments. As in the case of the light garland, they are arranged from top to bottom.
If you want to add bows to your tree, now is the time to tie them on the branches. As with each step, we make sure to distribute them evenly.

We finish by adding the Christmas baubles, again arranging them from top to bottom. To highlight them, we hang them towards the ends – but not at the very end of the branches either, otherwise the latter will bend!
Why start with garlands to decorate the tree?
Starting with the garlands allows you to structure the tree: it is then easier to arrange the Christmas baubles and ornaments in a perfectly balanced way. Furthermore, this prevents the Christmas balls from being hidden by the garlands.
Above all, Christmas baubles and ornaments are traditionally made of glass – a rather fragile material. Hanging them at the very end necessarily limits breakage! This is all the more necessary since cheap plastic decorations are now “has-been”. We’re coming back to the delicate pieces!
